Another legendary designer I was introduced to in my time at Queensland University of Technology was Paul Rand. If you’re involved in the graphic design field you’ve mostly likely heard of him, if not, you’re probably familiar with some of his corporate logos anyway.

Although I’m not particularly fond of his work, he has made significant contributions to the field of art direction and visual communication and anyone who is an aspiring designer should look at his work.

Google Maps for NES

Probably the best April Fools. Google decides to cater to one of the biggest computer systems, the NES, by making Google Maps for NES. Quite funny on it’s own, but the best part is that they actually created an 8-bit filter for Google Maps complete with 8-bit streetview.

Adblock changes to Catblock

Adblock gets hacked by the creators cat and changed to Catblock, so instead of your adverts being blocked you get cute pictures of cats.

Virgin Volcanic

Virgin introduces Virgin Volcanic, the first expedition to the center of the earth. On the first trip passengers include, Tom Hanks, Seth Green and “science enthusiast” Will.i.am.

worthy, work I’ve posted on my Tumblr blog lately

This week I made two forms for my house, the first was a tea preference form so there is a reference (on the fridge) of how different people like their tea. The second form is an electricity log so I can see where all our electricity goes! Lastly, I did a typographic quote poster for work. My boss got a couple frames and asked me to do some cool typography quotes by Dr Seuss, Steve Jobs and one undecided. I’ve done the Steve Jobs one so far.
